Bringing French-Inspired Pastries to Memphis.

An elevated café experience rooted in craft and soul. At The Butter Book, modern elegance meets bold, globally inspired flavors, a place where every detail matters and every bite lingers. You don’t just visit; you savor, you connect, you remember.

The BB Project is Here.

The Butter Book (“BB”) is an upscale coffee and pastry destination in the heart of Midtown Memphis, founded by Reginald G. Edwards. Rooted in authentic French pastry techniques, BB brings together craft, culture, and community to create a refined yet welcoming experience.

Reginald’s lifelong passion for pastry led him to study at the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts (PICA) in Vancouver, BC, one of North America’s top pastry programs. There, he immersed himself in the discipline of traditional French baking, blending this foundation with his global hospitality vision shaped by years exploring renowned bakeries in Seattle and Vancouver.

The result is a concept where French refinement meets Memphis soul — a place where sophistication meets authenticity.

Developed in two strategic phases, BB minimizes early risk while laying the groundwork for long-term growth.

Phase 1: Acquire and optimize an existing coffee shop, enhancing operations, elevating the menu, and engaging the community.

Phase 2: Transform the space into an internationally inspired flagship café, introducing a design-forward environment and an expanded pastry program that redefines Memphis’ café culture.

Our origins begin with our founder and head Chef Reginald Edwards, and his commitment to bringing an outsanding and unique pastry experience to the hear of the Mid-South
